Every 584 days, Venus enters one of her most mysterious and alchemically potent phases known in astrology as the superior conjunction, which in this current Venusian cycle is on 6th-7th January 2026 (tropical sign of Capricorn). This is a profound, celestial moment woven into the 19 month synodic cycle. From Earth’s perspective, Venus disappears behind the Sun, slipping into a two-month period of invisibility.
This is not absence. This is initiation.
As Venus passes behind the Sun, she has shed her identity as the Morning Star, descending into the symbolic Underworld where light cannot reach. Here, in the unseen realms, she undergoes her ancient metamorphosis of dissolving, remembering, reforming, before rising again luminous with new wisdom, as the Evening Star.
The cosmological Venus cycle has been mythologised throughout the ancient classical cultures as the Underworld Journey: a descent into the shadowed chambers of the heart, where truth is stripped bare and the soul is invited to soften into surrender. It is the cosmic echo of the alchemical axiom: As Above, So Below.
What unfolds in the heavens mirrors the transformations stirring within us.
During the disappearance of Venus in the heavenly skies, we are called inward. Into stillness. Into reflection. Into the quiet places where our own rebirth is quietly preparing itself.
The superior conjunction is a reminder that invisibility is not emptiness — it is gestation. A sacred pause. A moment when the heart rewrites its own codes beneath the surface of consciousness.
When Venus returns to the sky as the Evening Star, around mid-February 2026 (depending on your location) she carries the radiance of everything she learned in the dark. And so do we.
